SharePoint 2010 List Validation Formulas

SP2010 Validation Formulas

Earlier, I wrote a post on Column Validation and List Validation settings in SharePoint 2010. If you are wondering where to get help for the currently supported formulas for SharePoint 2010 beta 2, then here is the ‘precious’ link for you –

If you are still stuck with any of the formulas, feel free to discuss it at the SharePoint 2010 MSDN Forums

  1. I have a problem I have two fields both choice menus.
If column 1 = certain text and column 2 equals certain text then column 3 must have data.
I can get one to work but combining two just throws and error or it runs through it with no error.

    =OR([column1]”Resolved”,[field required]”,([Column2]”Production”,[field required]””)
I have tried different formulas some work half way through and some don’t work at all, I think its the combination of the two how do I combine two validations to get this to work.

  2. I have a SharePoint 2010 list validation formula that out of desperation, I created as I was spending a great deal of time correcting time entry. I would like to share the formula for others to use – as it has been a life saver for me. The formula validates the format of a time entry to ensure that it is in the correct format (11:00 AM). When I created it, I got part of it from another blog, but could not find a formula that checks all of the components for common time format.

  3. I’ve been scouring the web for a column validation list formula in SharePoint for time format hh:mm XX. This is the only one I’ve found and when I enter it I get a syntax error. Can someone please check the formula – I am not familiar enough with this coding to see an error.
